Asuncion “Betty” Baker, age 93 a resident of the St. Croix Health Center, and formerly of Island Pond, Vermont, died on Friday, February 05, 2010.  She was born the daughter of Francisco Perez and Maria Santos on November 23, 1916 in Puerto Rico.  Asuncion moved to New York in 1942 and was married to James Baker in 1957. 

She was vibrant woman who was full of life and loved being a mother and grandmother.  She had and battled Parkinson’s Disease for many years.  Asuncion is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Baker; brothers, Juan and Rogelio Perez; and sisters, Lena and Lucy Perez.  She is survived by her daughter, Lily (Marty Shanklin) Neudecker; granddaughters, Carol, Denise, and Lisa Whiting; great-grandchildren, Jazmine, Janessa, and Junior; and sisters, Adela Tapia and Idalis Comas.  A Memorial Service was held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 6:30 pm at Bakken-Young's Beebe Mortuary in New Richmond.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young’s Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
