Floyd Schroeder 02/16/2010

Floyd Sherman Schroeder was born September 13, 1918 in River Falls, Wisconsin where he lived his entire life. He passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Valley Grande Manor in Weslaco, Texas. His parents, Garfield and Rose Schroeder preceded him in death.

 In 1941 he married Ethel Rossow who also preceded him in death in January, 2000 at Pineto Palm Park.  He graduated from River Falls High School in 1936. He attended college at what is now the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  During high school and until 1952 he worked with his father in the family business: Schroeder Dray Line. He worked at Anderson Windows in Bayport, Minnesota until his retirement.  He was a member of the United Methodist Church in River Falls. During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Floyd is survived by one daughter, Cher Robbins, of River Falls, Wisconsin, one son Jerold, of Cumberland, WI, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He is also survived by a sister Lorraine Jelinek and her husband Wm. R. of LaSalle, Colorado and a dear friend, Viola Gomer of Hammond, WI.  He enjoyed traveling, playing cards and visiting friends. He arrived at Pine to Palm Park on December 28, 1970, just 10 days after the ribbon cutting that opened the park. He has spend the 6 months of winter here ever since. He loved the park and served on the Mantex Board for six years and was Vice President a part of that term. He served on the Tourest Club Board, was Food Chairman and Pancake Chairman with the assistance of his wife Ethel. He also served as Card Chairmanand Bingo Chairman.  A memorial service was held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 11:00 am at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls.  Memorial visitation was also Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 before the service with the Loyal Order of the Moose service at 10:45.  Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls with the River Falls American Legion providing honors.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
