Vera R. Hornbostel age 99 of New Richmond died Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Deerfield Gables.  She was born the daughter of Fredrick and Amanda (Heldt) Riba on July 3, 1910 in Holloway, MN.

  On May 17, 1931 she married Henry Hornbostel at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Forest, WI.  Vera is survived by her children, Norman (Maureen) Hornbostel, Donna (Clifford) Ellevold, Lorraine (Allen) Bentley; grandchildren, Greg Hornbostel, Mary (David) Triemert, Steve (DeeDee) Hornbostel, Renee (Barry) Iverson, Randy Ellevold, Brian (friend, Barb Murphy) Ellevold, Scott (Betsy) Ellevold, Tracey (Michelle) Ellevold, Terri (Duane) Cran, A. Jeff (Julie) Bentley; 23 great-grandchildren; 16 great great-grandchildren; brother, Milton (Myrna) Riba; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Amanda Riba; husband, Henry Hornbostel; daughter, Mella Hornbostel; brother, Arthur Riba; sister, Dorothy Grace; granddaughter, Brenda Kay Ellevold; and great-granddaughter, Laura Emerson.  A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond.  Visitation was also Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am before the service at church.  The interment will be in the spring.  Vera’s grandchildren will be the pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young’s Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
