Gary Sattergren, 69, of Plum City, Wisconsin died January 24, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN after a short illness. Gary John Sattergren was born March 6, 1940 at the Plum City Hospital to Peter and Viola (Kutter) Sattergren. He attended Salem grade school and graduated from Plum City High School in 1958. After high school he was employed at Riedell Shoes in Red Wing until serving in the Army from 1963-1965. After his discharge, he was employed with Holiday trucking as an over the road driver until he returned to join his brother on the family farm after their father’s death. He retired from farming in 2004 and had resided at the Season’s in Plum City. Gary enjoyed visiting, old time music and had an interest in antique tractors and cars. He was especially fond of his farm animals. Gary survived by his sister, Shirley (Walter) Hinsch of Red Wing; nieces Lori (Patrick) Keane, Margie (George) Thoma; nephew, Todd (Sherry) Hinsch; great nieces, Heather (Mike), Bridget, Laura, Elizabeth; and great nephew, Paul; aunt, Edith Kutter and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Shelby. A funeral service was Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Maiden Rock. Visitation was also Friday from 12:00-2:00 pm before the service. Spring interment will be in the Freehome Cemetery in Plum City. Memorials are preferred to heart or cancer charities. The family wants to express their appreciation for the wonderful care Gary received at the Seasons, the Plum City Care Center and St. Mary’s Hospital. Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock. |
