Jalmer S. Johnson 02/03/2010

Jalmer S. Johnson, age 91 of New Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.  Jalmer was born the son of Martin and Anna (Bottolfson) Johnson on August 17, 1918 in rural Polk County, Wisconsin.  He served in the Army from May 12, 1941 to May 12, 1945 spending 39 months in the South Pacific.  On October 30, 1945, Jalmer was married to Grace Ellis in Amery, Wisconsin.  Jalmer delivered milk for Sanitary Dairy from 1945 to 1976 when he sold the dairy and went to work for Gamble’s. 

He also worked for Allan’s Flower Shop and Bernard’s Northtown.  Jalmer was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 80.  He loved spending time with family and friends, vacationing and dancing.  He was an outgoing, congenial man with a radiant smile.  Jalmer is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Anna Johnson; brothers, Jean, Julian, Arnold, Dwaine, and Jerome Johnson; and sisters, Edna Emerson, Hazel Cotton, and Lorraine Emerson.  He is survived by his wife, Grace Johnson; son Mick (Tammy Lau) Johnson; daughter, Julie Ann Hart; grandchildren, Miranda (Matt) Miller, Chamie (Mark) Alvarez, Nicholas Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Dana (Aaron McWilliams) Juaire, Bethany Juaire, and Matthew Juaire; great-grandchildren, Mariah Miller, Mark, Noah, and Jonah Alvarez, Parker, Isabella, and Bennett Gaustad, Kaiden McWilliams, and Levi Burch; brother, Marvin (Harriet) Johnson; sister, Betty Mickelson; God Children, Nancy (Greg) Moore and Dale Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 1:00 pm at First Lutheran Church in New Richmond.  Visitation was also on Saturday from 11:00-1:00 pm before the service at the church.  Spring interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young's Beebe Mortuary of New Richmond.
