Karin Hargrave 05/15/2013

K Hargrave obitKarin Marie Hargrave, age 53 of River Falls and formerly of Brodhead, WI, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at her home.  Karin was born the daughter of Donald and Margaret (Lee) Hogquist in Duluth, MN on January 7, 1960.  She grew up in Sandstone, MN, graduating from Sandstone High School with the class of 1978.  She went on to St. Luke's College of Nursing in Duluth and then received her Master's Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Wisconsin Madison.  Karin served in Army National Guard for 2 years.  She was generous and tender hearted, welcoming and always smiling.  She loved canoeing and being outdoors.  Karin also enjoyed fishing, reading, and helping others.  She was a parent to 29 foster children.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Hogquist.  Karin is survived by her daughter, Korene Hargrave; son, Kyle Hargrave; grandson, Jeremiah; father, Don Hogquist; siblings, Kris (Steve Jameson) Hogquist, Dan (Arlene) Hogquist, Kelly (Mary Bess Michaletz) Hogquist; nieces and nephews, Laura Jameson, Sam Jameson, Adam Hogquist, Kevin Hogquist; former husband, Craig Hargrave; and many other relatives and friends.  A Memorial Gathering was held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 3:30 - 5:30 pm with a memory sharing service at 5:30 pm at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls.  The "Karin Hargrave Memorial Fund" for the children of Karin (Kyle and Korene Hargrave) has been set up at the First National Bank of River Falls.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.

Merlin Turner died on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.  Arrangements are pending with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Baldwin.

Lorraine Affolter 05/11/2013

Lorraine AffolterLorraine Rose Affolter age 88 of Baldwin died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Baldwin Area Medical Center.  She was born the daughter of Edwin and Lillian (Kochsiek) Triebold on June 11, 1924 in Woodbury, MN.  On August 12, 1946, Lorraine married Emil Affolter at Dayton Bluff in St. Paul, MN.  She raised her family on their farm on County Road N.  Lorraine enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, picnics and fishing.  She was very good at canning, sewing and embroidery.  Lorraine was always the first to greet new neighbors and people in the area.  She is survived by her children, Judy (Jerry) Carr, Jeannie (Dan) Van Beek, Gary (Sonya) Affolter, Dale (Debra) Affolter; 11 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; son, Danny; granddaughter, Tanya; brothers, Leonard, Glen, Robert and Richard.  A memorial service was held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Woodville.  Visitation was also Wednesday from 10-11 am at the church.  Interment was in the German Settlement Cemetery in rural St. Croix County.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Baldwin.

Peter Ault 05/06/2013

Ault obitPeter J. Ault, 53 of Houlton, WI passed away unexpectedly on May 6, 2013 from (natural causes) that is believed to be of a broken heart by those that knew and loved him. He was a beloved father, son, brother, friend, and talented musician "Rock Star".
      He is preceded in death by his mother Sue (Harper) Ault, and by his soulmate and dear friend, former wife Rebecca J Ault.
      He is survived by his father Gerald R. Ault (Susan), Bozeman, MT. His sister Kathy (Dale) Langford of Idaho, his daughters, Cassandra Alford, 33 and Melissa Remington (Donny), 32 both of Houlton, WI, and his son, Michael Aaron, 25 of Greeley, CO. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Brendan Lee, Alexander, Olivia, Gracee, and "The Bears" Ashton and Austin. He will also be missed by many more loving family members and dear friends, Jon (Kimberly) Gilbertson, Michael Beaudry, Andrew Gruba, and Lee (Maria) O' Daniel.
      He was born May 29, 1959 in Sacramento, CA where he attended school until the age of 13. He then relocated with his family to Eden Prairie, MN and from there settling in Hudson, WI. He graduated from Hudson High School, Class of 1977. He went on to complete a two year degree in Cobol Programming and design at Northeast Metro Vocational College. He was employed by LDSI and American Family Insurance. He was an avid and talented bass guitar player. His music was his passion. He also enjoyed running and taking long bicycle rides. Peter and Becka's favorite place to be and where their ashes will meet the Heaven's was at the North Shore near Duluth, MN. He enjoyed agate hunting, computer games and listening to music. Final arrangements are being made by his daughter, Melissa at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson at the 6th Street location the evening of May 16 from 6:30-8:00 pm. Memorials are preferred for his children to pay for his unexpected final arrangements and headstone. For address information please contact Melissa at 612-245-9797.

Jim Phernetton 05/07/2013

Jim Phernetton, age 81 of Beldenville, WI, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Lutheran Home in River Falls, WI.  Jim was born the son of Russell and Clara (Zarbuck) Phernetton on October 1, 1931 in Spring Valley, WI.  He grew up in Pierce County, WI spending most of his life near Beldenville, WI.  He graduated from Spring Valley High School.  Jim served in the Air Force.  He was stationed in Alaska and California.  When he returned from service, Jim went to work for Bob's Litho Printing in the Twin Cities, retiring in the early 1990's.  Jim loved flowers and could make anything grow.  He enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends.  Jim was hard working and friendly.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Clara Phernetton; brother, Lawrence (Connie) Phernetton; and sister, Doris (Dave) Sacket; brother-in-law, Robert Forton.  He is survived by his brothers, Allen (Marion) Phernetton, Tom (Sue) Phernetton; sisters, Laurene (Lee) Kline, Beverly Forton; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A Memorial Gathering was held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 from 10am - 12 noon with a memory sharing service at 11:30 and a luncheon following at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home River Falls, WI.  Interment was in the Beldenville Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to Parkinson's Research.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
